It argues that keeping the Sabbath isn’t outdated legalism — it’s a holy pause in an anxious, screen-addicted world. But here’s the truth: God commanded this rhythm thousands of years ago. Long before we burned out on social media, Israel was told, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8). YHWH engraved that very command in tablets of stone.

And let’s be clear: the Sabbath is not Sunday. The Bible has always defined the Sabbath as the seventh day — from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Always has been. Always will be. No church council or tradition can change what God Himself set apart at creation (Genesis 2:2–3).

I know this firsthand. My family and I have been keeping the seventh-day Sabbath for over fifty years now. It has never been a burden for me, as some suppose. It has been one of the greatest blessings in my life — a weekly reset that draws me closer to God, restores my peace, and strengthens my family bonds.

1. The Sabbath is God’s idea, not ours.
At creation, God Himself rested. Not because He was tired. But to set an example for us. He wove the Sabbath into the Ten Commandments as a permanent sign between Him and His people. The Sabbath was never about restriction — it was about freedom.

2. Rest is release.
Pharaoh once demanded bricks without straw. Today, our taskmasters are deadlines, emails, and endless notifications. To stop for 24 hours is to declare: I am free. My life is not controlled by busyness. My identity is in God.

3. The Sabbath transforms life.
Kirk calls it a lifeline — and he’s right. Honoring the Sabbath restores balance, reduces anxiety, and reconnects us with family. Isaiah says the Sabbath is a delight (Isaiah 58:13–14), not a burden.

Charlie Kirk may have reintroduced Sabbath to a restless generation, but the truth is this: God has been offering it for millennia. The only question is — will you stop, in the name of God?
