The Feast That Reveals Your Future
Every fall, while most Christians celebrate nothing, a handful of believers gather in rented halls and hotel conference rooms to observe a week-long festival most have never heard of.
They’re not crazy. They’re rehearsing.
The Feast of Tabernacles isn’t some dusty Old Testament relic. It’s a prophetic dress rehearsal for the most important event in human history—and if you don’t understand it, you’re missing the entire point of the gospel.
The Feast of Tabernacles pictures the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth, when resurrected saints will teach all nations God’s law under a government that finally works. It’s not about remembering the past—it’s about preparing for your future job in the Kingdom of God.
THE FEAST NOBODY CANCELED
Most Christians assume God’s Holy Days died with Christ.
They’re wrong.
Leviticus 23:34 commands: “The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD.” Notice the audience—”to the LORD,” not “to the Jews.”
Zechariah 14:16 destroys the “that’s just for Israel” excuse: “Everyone who survives of all the nations…shall go up year by year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”
That’s future tense. After Christ returns. When you’re in the Kingdom.
The Feast isn’t a suggestion—it’s a preview of your eternal job description.
TABERNACLES MEANS “TEMPORARY DWELLING”
The word tabernacle means a temporary shelter—a tent, a booth, something portable.
Why would God command a festival about temporary housing?
Because your physical body is temporary. Your current life is a tent. But God is preparing you for something permanent—a glorified, immortal body in a government that will never end.
Paul understood this: “We know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).
The Feast pictures the transition from mortality to immortality, from chaos to order, from Satan’s world to God’s Kingdom.
You’re not going to float on clouds. You’re going to govern cities (Luke 19:17).
THE MILLENNIAL REIGN IS NOT SYMBOLIC
Revelation 20:4 says the resurrected saints “came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”
This isn’t poetry. It’s government policy.
Isaiah 2:3 shows the job description: “Out of Zion shall go the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” The resurrected saints will enforce God’s law on earth—teaching confused, broken survivors how to live God’s way.
Every September or October, when believers gather for the Feast of Tabernacles, they’re practicing what that world looks like. Families learning together. Communities built on God’s law. Unity without compromise. Joy without sin.
It’s a one-week taste of the world to come—and a test of whether you actually want to be there.
WHY EIGHT DAYS?
The Feast lasts seven days—but there’s an eighth day tacked on (Leviticus 23:36).
Why?
Because the Millennium isn’t the end. It’s the beginning.
That eighth day—called the Last Great Day—pictures the resurrection of everyone who ever lived and died without knowing the truth. Billions of people who never had a real chance. They’ll be raised, taught, and given their first opportunity to choose God’s way.
That’s not universalism. It’s justice.
God isn’t losing people by default. He’s giving everyone a fair shot—and the Feast of Tabernacles maps it all out, year after year, for those with eyes to see.
CONCLUSION
If the gospel is just “believe and go to heaven,” the Feast of Tabernacles makes no sense.
But if the gospel is the good news of God’s coming government—if Christ is returning as King to restore all things—if you’re being trained to reign with Him—then this Feast is the linchpin of everything.
Ignore it, and you miss your purpose.
Keep it, and you rehearse eternity.
